Dubai (UAE): Over 1,200 runners representing Jumeirah Group will be targeting a record of their own when they take part in the 2024 Dubai Marathon which gets underway on Sunday (January 7).
The runners, registered from throughout the company and running across all three race categories, will be aiming to become the largest corporate entry in the 23-year history of the Middle East’s oldest international marathon, which is staged under the auspices of the Dubai Sports Council.
Since 2007, Jumeirah Group has always been one of the largest corporate teams on the starting line. And wearing their distinctive red shirts, their runners will be aiming to set the bar even higher on Sunday when the gun goes off for the start of the race close to the iconic Burj Al Arab.
“Jumeirah Group runners of all standards are committed to the Dubai Marathon and proud to support their own city’s marathon,” said Gordon Rech, Director of Colleague and Medical Services, Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts.
“It has always been our policy to encourage wellness and inclusivity, while investing in the health and fitness of the employees. It is something our staff appreciate, and they are always happy to turn out in large numbers for the Dubai Marathon. Hopefully, in 2024 we can set a new record for the number of corporate entries across the three races.”
A newly opened, purpose-built sports arena at Jumeirah Group’s staff accommodation Oasis Village in Dubai is a testament to the company’s commitment to the healthy lifestyle of its employees.
The arena is free to access for all employees with the opportunity to get involved in all types of team activities, such as basketball, football, badminton and volleyball, while other facilities are freely available including swimming pools, cricket pitches and tennis courts.
“The Oasis Village Sports Arena is a special addition and one the employees have embraced,” added Rech. “From our junior employees to our CEO Katerina Giannouka, we have people throughout the company who like to run and hopefully we will see more than 1,200 of them come together on Sunday.”
While Jumeirah Group will look to be the biggest corporate entry, thousands of other runners have already registered to run the Marathon, the 10km or the 4km Fun Run and will be invited to collect their run numbers this week. For those whose New Year resolution is to start a fitness campaign, there is still limited time to register with registration open through the official website dubaimarathon.org until Saturday (January 6).
In addition to chasing personal goals and a well-earned medal, holders of a valid UAE residence visa and UAE driving licence who register to run can also have the chance to win an EXEED RX, courtesy of EXEED by Al Ghurair, the renowned premium vehicle brand represented by AG Auto in the UAE
The 2024 Dubai Marathon is supported by the Dubai Sports Council, adidas, Dubai Duty Free, EXEED by Al Ghurair, the Channel 4 Radio Network, ITP Media Group, Bisleri Water, Biofreeze, Dubai RTA, Dubai Police, Al Ameen Service, Dubai Municipality and SIRO One Za'abeel, the first fully integrated Fitness + Recovery hotel in Dubai.
